Year in Review
We just can't believe that another year has passed - MS Friends of Midwives has continued to grow and support midwifery throughout Mississippi. This year we have continued to educate legislators about the role midwives play in maternity care in our state by letter writing and face-to-face visits. We educated the public through our coffee house meetings and screening of "Birth Story" in partnership with the Crossroads Film Festival.
Another year has passed in which no legislation was introduced to outlaw midwifery and no midwives were arrested. This is WONDERFUL!!!! We have not been notified that any families were threatened by physicians or hospitals about their decision to have a homebirth.
Volunteers Needed
We are looking forward to the coming year in which we will continue to educate the people of Mississippi about midwifery care. Our supporters have made donations and we have a small budget to put these projects into action.
Each May, MS Friends of Midwives elects a new Board of Directors - I know, it can sound a little intimidating. But, we are a group of people working to implement some projects, educate the public, brainstorm ideas and keep a watch over midwifery in MS. There is no reason to be intimidated. We welcome new volunteers and their ideas!
Frankly, if we don't do protect midwifery in MS, no one will.
We need you to volunteer.
Please contact any of the board members with questions or to discuss volunteering.
